English

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of education based on acceptance and commitment on the quality of life and perceived stress of mothers of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The method of the current research was a semi-experimental type with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research was made up of all the mothers of hyperactive children in Tabriz city in 1403, using the available random sampling method, 30 people were selected and randomly replaced in two experimental and control groups. The therapeutic protocol of acceptance and commitment training by McKay et al. (2012) was implemented as a group for 10 sessions of 90 minutes for the experimental group. Both groups were evaluated in pre-test and post-test stages with France and Paro's (1992) quality of life and Cohen's (1983) perceived stress questionnaires. Finally, after collecting the data, the methods of descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics of multivariate covariance analysis were used. The findings showed that education based on acceptance and commitment was effective on quality of life (p<0.001) and perceived stress (p<0.001) of mothers of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Based on this, it is suggested that the mentioned program be used in the agenda of psychologists and counselors to increase the quality of life and reduce the perceived stress of mothers of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
