[English]

Divorce is one of the causes of mental disorders in life. Divorced women often face many challenges in their life after divorce. The present study was conducted with the aim of effective compassion-centered treatment on rumination and psychological stress of this group of women. The research method was an experimental single case design of ABA type. For this purpose, according to the entry and exit criteria, five divorced women were selected using by available sampling method. The subjects participated in three baseline sessions, eight compassion-focused therapy sessions, and one follow-up session. The research tools included the Nolen-Huxma and Murrow (1991) Ruminant Response Styles Questionnaire and the Cohen Perceived Stress Scale (1983). Data analysis was done by the method of Visual Drawing, Reliability coefficient calculation, and Recovery percentage formula. The results of the research indicated that compassion-focused therapy has a significant effect on reducing rumination and mental stress in divorced women. A fifteen-day follow-up also confirmed the stability of the results. The results of the research indicated that teaching compassion through adjusting the emotional-cognitive system of people, prepared them to face shameful life experiences such as divorce, and by reducing negative emotions and self-blame, it led to the cultivation and increase of positive emotions such as Compassion for self and others, self-confidence, tolerance of turmoil, acceptance without judgment, continuous attention on inner feelings and as a result reducing rumination and mental stress of divorced women. therefore, this treatment can be used by psychotherapists and family therapists to promote mental health and improve mental stress and rumination.
