Social anxiety is one of the most common psychological disorders that prevent a person from being efficient in the occupational, academic, and social fields. In this regard, this research aimed to investigate the relationship between defensive self-expression strategies and existential expression with social anxiety in students of the Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. For this purpose, a sample of 340 students from the Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz was selected by multi-stage random sampling method, and the self-expression questionnaire and social anxiety dimensions’ questionnaire were used. Correlation and regression methods were used for data analysis. The results of the data analysis showed that strategies of defensive self-expression and existential self-expression were predictors of students' social anxiety. Therefore, the results indicate that self-expression variables can predict social anxiety.
