Abstract

The present study was conducted to investigate the role of fathers in the psychological well-being of adolescent girls. The present study was descriptive and in the field of qualitative research, which was carried out using the content analysis method. The statistical population of the research was teenage girls in Tehran. The samples were selected using the purposeful sampling method and after answering the psychological well-being questionnaire of Rief (1989), teenage girls who had high psychological well-being were interviewed. The analysis of the findings was done using Colaizzi's method. The analysis of participants' interviews led to the identification of 8 main categories, including self-acceptance, purposeful life, autonomy, control over the environment, personal growth, positive relationships with others, trust and support, and 21 subcategories. The obtained results showed that the father's role is important and influential in the psychological well-being of adolescent girls. With their presence and activities, fathers can help the psychological growth and development of adolescent girls and provide the necessary fields for their success and progress.
