Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare mother-child relationship, parenting self-efficacy, perceived stress and life satisfaction in mothers with children with diabetes and mothers of normal children. This research is causal-comparative and the statistical population included all mothers with children with diabetes and mothers of normal children in Shiraz city in the first quarter of 2012. The statistical sample includes two groups of 50 mothers of children with diabetes and mothers of normal children, who were selected by convenience sampling. The research tools included Lang's mother-child relationship questionnaires, Samani's parenting self-efficacy and Cohen's esteem and perceived stress, Diener's life satisfaction. The findings showed that the mean of mother-child relationship and life satisfaction is higher in mothers of normal children. In terms of self-efficacy, there is no significant difference between the two groups of mothers, and mothers with children with diabetes have more perceived stress than mothers of normal children
