Abstract

One of the factors that play an important role in the ability to adapt to the psychological fear and stress caused by illness is spirituality. This study aimed to predict the level of fear of Coronaviruses disease based on spiritual well-being, life satisfaction, and positive and negative emotions during the outbreak of coronavirus. The method of the present study was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population included all patients of Sarvestan health center in the winter of 2020. The sample consisted of 176 people who were selected by the convenience sampling method. The research instruments included the Fear of Disease Coronaviruses Scale (FDCS), the Short Form of Spiritual Welfare Scale, the Life Satisfaction Scale (SWLS), and the Positive and Negative Affection Scale (PANAS). Pearson correlation coefficient, multivariate regression analysis, multivariate analysis, and variance (MANOVA) were used to analyze the research data. The results showed that the variables of spiritual well-being, life satisfaction, positive emotions (significantly and negatively), and negative emotions (significantly and positively) were predictors of fear of coronavirus. To reduce psychological disorders such as fear and anxiety caused by the coronavirus, it is necessary to pay attention to spiritual well-being along with other psychological and health services.
