Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of penn resiliency program on students’ coping strategies, quality of life & optimism. The research method was quasi experimental with pre- test, post-test, follow up and control group. Among Islamic Azad University, central Tehran branch, 40 students were selected and were matched from age, educational status, sex and other criteria considered in this research. Then they were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received 7 sessions of penn resiliency program 2 hours per session but the control group did not receive any intervention. We used quality of life, life orientation test & ways of coping questionnaires. The data were analyzed with covariance. The results indicated that there was a significant difference between experimental and control group in quality of life, optimism and problem-focused strategies. The rate of optimism, quality of life and problem-focused strategies in experimental group were higher in comparison with test, and control group. These results persisted after follow up. These results suggest that pen resiliency program increased the optimism, quality of life and problem-focused strategies.
