Abstract

The present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of bullying prevention training and social skills training on bullying behaviors and academic vitality of students. The current research was applied, with a semi-experimental method, a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a two-month follow-up. The statistical population of the research was all male students aged 12 to 15 years of the first secondary level of Isfahan city, 45 of whom were purposefully selected according to the entry criteria and divided into three groups (15 under bullying prevention training, 15 under social skills training and 15 people were assigned to the control group. The measurement tools were the Bullying Behavior Questionnaire of Splich and Hallett (2001) and the Academic Vitality Questionnaire of Dehghanizadeh and Hossein Chari (2011). Data analysis was done using SPSS23 software and by repeated measurement variance test. The findings showed that both bullying prevention training and social skills training improved bullying behaviors and academic vitality in male students of the first year of high school (p<0.001) and the effects of both trainings were stable until the follow-up stage (p<0.001). . The research results showed that bullying prevention and social skills training programs can be used to reduce bullying behaviors and increase academic vitality in students.
