Abstract

The present study was conducted in order to evaluate the effectiveness of emotion-based family therapy on the tolerance of emotional distress, self-differentiation and Alexithymia in female adolescents with psychosomatic disorders. Method: This study is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test with a control group. The sample group of this research is teenagers aged 14 to 18 years old in Ahvaz city who referred to counseling and psychotherapy centers of this city and had the criteria of psychosomatic disorders, 40 people were randomly selected and tested in two groups of 20 people. and control were randomly assigned. Both groups were tested based on the anxiety tolerance questionnaires of Simmons and Gaher (2005), Skuvron and Friedlander (1998) and Bagbi et al. Attachment-based therapy was provided, and during this period, the control group did not receive any training. Findings: The method of family therapy based on attachment has reduced the tolerance of emotional distress, self-regulation and Alexithymia in the experimental group. Discussion and conclusion: Based on this, it can be concluded that attachment-based family therapy is an effective intervention to reduce negative emotions such as emotional distress and aphasia and increase psychological abilities such as self-differentiation.
