Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of short-term solution-oriented treatment in increasing adaptation and reducing the feeling of psychological loneliness of veterans' spouses. The research method was experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included all the spouses of veterans in Shiraz city in 2017, among whom 20 were selected by a purposeful sampling method. Then they were randomly divided into two groups: 10 for the experimental group and 10 for the control group. Short-term solution-oriented treatment was performed on the experimental group during six one-hour sessions. And in a meeting, a post-test was done for each group. The measurement tools of the research included the University of California Loneliness Questionnaire and the Spinner Adaptation Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS software. The results of the covariance analysis showed a significant difference between the adjustment and the feeling of psychological loneliness of the two groups (experimental and control) in the post-test stage. The short-term solution-oriented therapy increased the adaptation and reduced the psychological loneliness of veterans' spouses. Finally, short-term solution-oriented treatment with continuous changes in person-environment communication and emotional adjustment had a significant effect on the adaptation and psychological loneliness of veterans' spouses.
