Abstract

This study to aim was  corducted the effectiveness of based on acceptance and commitment group therapy (ACT) in reducing worry and depression in couples with emotional divorce referred to Mental Relief Counseling Clinic in Tehran In a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test with control group. Twenty-eight (14 participants in experimental group and 14 participants in control group) couples with emotional divorce problems were selected using voluntarly sampling. The experimental group participants in 8 sessions of acceptance and commitment based on intervention (ACT) sessions and the control group participants did not receive any intervention. Participants responded in two stage to the Beck Depression Inventory and the State of Pennsylvania Questionnaire on two occasions. Findings showed that acceptance and commitment therapy reduced depression and worry in the experimental group. Based on this, it can be said that in the field of treatment and dealing with depressed and anxious people and reduction of emotional divorce in the field of family interventions, acceptance and commitment group therapy (ACT) due to its nature seems very effective and promising.
