Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Gestalt group therapy on self-expression and self-concept. This experimental study with pretest-posttest control group design was used. The population of this study was all the male medical students of Bam city were enrolled in the academic year 1394-1395 and due to psychological problems were referred to counseling centers. The study sample comprised 30 students selected randomly in two experimental and control groups were replaced. The instrument used in this study were self-expression Gambrill and Ridgi Questionnaire and Self Concept Questionnaire Rogers. The pre-test was conducted on both. The experimental group were trained in 10 sessions of one hour. The control group received no intervention. After completing the training program post-test was performed on both groups. To analyze the data were used the analysis of variance. The results showed that Gestalt therapy has a significant impact on self-expression and self-concept on male students.
